What is Hospice?
Franschhoek Hospice and Home Nursing are special healthcare options for patients and families who are faced with a terminal illness, or who need general home nursing. We provide palliative (comfort) care when curative treatment is no longer an option. Care is given at home and includes training the family, and providing trained caregivers to assist the family. Hospice views the patient, family and disease from a holistic perspective. Our belief is that the quality of life is as important as the length of life.
Volunteers
Volunteers form an integral part of our service and they receive specialized training. Our volunteers work in harmony with the professional staff to provide support to the patient and his family. There is no area of Hospice where the expertise and enthusiasm of volunteers is not a valuable asset.
Who Pays for Hospice?
Funding is provided by the community, the patient and/or family our shop and fundraising projects. The loyal and generous support from our community allows Franschhoek Hospice to maintain our high standards of service regardless of our patients ability to pay.
